Edward H. Sebesta is an independent researcher based in Dallas, Texas. He is one of the editors of Neo-Confederacy: A Critical Introduction, Univ. of Texas Press (2008) and co-editor with James Loewen of The Confederate and Neo-Confederate: The 'Great Truth' About the 'Lost Cause,'" University Press of Mississippi.
He is internationally published in peer reviewed academic journals (Curriculum Vitae). He has two blogs, Anti-Neo-Confederate where he reports on the neo-Confederate movement and Arlington Confederate Monument where he reports on the effort to persuade the President of the United States not to send a wreath to the Arlington Confederate monument and to end federal government support of neo-Confederacy. His web site is www.templeofdemocracy.com named after a 19th century metaphor for the American republic and in rejection of neo-Confederate anti-democratic and anti-egalitarian ideology.
He is the author of the 2009 letter to President Obama asking him not to send a wreath to the Arlington Confederate monument, detailing the neo-Confederate ideology of the monument. He is also the author of the 2010 letter to President Obama asking Obama to take the lead in ending federal government support of neo-Confederacy, detailing the ways the federal government supports neo-Confederacy and documenting the racism of one organization which benefits from federal government support. Obama is asked to take the lead in ending federal government support of neo-Confederacy by not sending a wreath to the neo-Confederate Arlington Confederate monument.
